Special Cole alert! DJ Khaled secures the bag with J. Cole for the duo’s latest collaboration, “Jermaine’s Interlude,” a cut off Major Key.
Following a hook from EarthGang, Jermaine delivers some bars about record label politics. “Tables do turn and labels do burn,” he raps. “The second they ask you to sell your soul / Don’t you do it, don’t you fold / Say ‘Fuck that shit’ and be bold.”
Later, Cole World flirts with retirement after discussing police relations in this country.
“Ni**as is out here dying,” he raps. “From police that flash the siren / And pull up and just start firin’ / Ni**as murkin’ each other, in murky water I try and swim / How the fuck do I look when I brag to you about some diamond? / Said all that I could say, now I play with thoughts of retirement.”
Khaled and Cole previously collaborated on a pair of tracks including “They Ready” off 2012’s Kiss the Ring and “Hells Kitchen” from 2013’s Suffering From Success.
